Auric Chronicles Update

Since it’s been a while, thought I’d drop in and give a quick update. A lot has happened since my last update, but it probably won’t feel that way to anyone but myself…haha.

I finished the redraft of the 1st book, and I’m really happy with the results. There’s still some sections I’m trying to smooth out, but some of those things I just have to let sit and stew for a little while.

Now, the 2nd book is undergoing the same detailed treatment the 1st book just survived. It’s way too short so I’m trying to expand. Problem is, the plot moved a lot quicker than expected and I don’t want to just add filler crap, so I’m taking my time to think through it.

I got about 3/4 of the way through the 3rd book and then decided I wasn’t happy with where it’s going, so I took a step back and rethought the plot. I cut out some major chunks that seemed irrelevant, and I’m reworking a new idea for the ending. It looks like the bulk of what was planned for book 4 is now part of book 3, and book 4 is getting all new content. Which, I’m excited for. It’ll be different and interesting to see what mess my characters get themselves into.

I also really tried to narrow down who is the main character, haha. It’s been a struggle between Mefune and Mariea from day 1…and, in a way, it is still both of them. But I wanted them to equally feel important. I didn’t want a Frodo. (If you don’t know what I mean about that, leave a comment and I’ll explain, ha.)

School has been a beast (when is it not?) so I’m moving slowly. Luckily, I’m almost done with the semester and I’m not taking classes next semester, so I’ll have time to write more.

NaNoWriMo—I'm trying it!

Despite being an avid writer and knowing about this tradition for a long time, I've never tried it. But I have a new idea floating around...
